Well Hay !!!,I woke up early in the morning on Sundayโฆโฆ.Like what the fuck ?!!! I’ve been working 9 to 5 all weeks and got to woke up at 03.30 AM on SUNDAY? holly crap. but thatโs okay that was my plan, and I already told this situation to my friends the day before.
So, the plan was, we would go to the Gateway of Heaven
โNot the real one, Iโm not ready to die yet, I got shits to be done in this mortal worldโ
We gotta go to The Gateway of Heaven (Pura Lempuyang) at 03.00 AM to catch up the sunrise, but I didnโt manage to woke up on time, I suffered so much that morning because I just slept at 01.00 AM and I got to woke up in such early morning. Great.
My friends called me several times, before I managed to wake up and prepared all of my stuff for the trip. We met in the middle of the town in Klungkung at 04.00, and went to Lempuyang Temple, after everyone is assembled.
This is the view that you’re gonna see if you come to this magical temple
It took about one and a half hours to reach the magnificent Pura Lempuyang (Lempuyang Temple) from Klungkung Regency โMy hometownโ, we took the country route to get to this temple which was so amazing because we were served with beautiful rice field scenery complete with row of green hills stretched along the way.
As we arrived at the main parking lot of the temple, we decided to stop a while because I had to get my fuckin breakfast, I was starving all the way and Itโs still a bit dark right there.
The main parking lot look so quiet
Donโt worry if you want to buy some food, because there are enough warung โsmall food storeโ to visit right there. I chose the Tasty Bakso (Meat ball) as my breakfast and so did Ayu, but two of my friends, Anto and Ulum couldnโt eat any food, not because they did not want to, but It was because they have to, since they are muslims and it was Ramadhan so they should be fasting.
The Warung Bakso, My savior after starving for one and half hours
Well, I hadnโt done my morning sacred ritual, so after I got my breakfast, there was a little bit contraction in my stomach and I realized that I had to go to the bathroom to get rid of all the sins I had that morning. It was the size of my fuckin arm and It felt like all of my cancers and tumors inside my body disappeared in a crack after the sacred ritual. Ooooo yeah !!!
Don’t worry they also have toilets at backyard of their house
We decided to continue our journey to the temple but we still need a few minutes to reached it, since the road is uphill so Itโs better if we drive our car way up. Usually if there is Odalan (Special Ceremonial) on the temple, we cannot drive our car or ride our motorcycle way up to the temple directly because there will be no space to park your vehicle up there, so you got to park your vehicle on the main parking lot and do a short hike to the temple.
As we arrived at the entrance, we need to pay the entrance fee for the unspecified amount of money, it is up to us how much money that we want to give, because it is just a contribution fee for the development of the temple, but if you donโt bring any Kamen or Sarung to cover the bottom of your body from waist to toe, then you have to rent one.
After a short hike up to the temple, we were surprised by the view of the Mighty Mount Agung, the view was just getting better since the sky was so clear.
The Mighty Mount Agung
Well, actually there are several temples up on the hill and you would need more than 3 hours to see all of them, however, the most beautiful one is only a short hike away from the entrance point and it is one of the most accessible temples over there, inside the temple you will see a lot of interesting Balinese architecture and sometimes you can see local people pray or just doing their traditional ceremony on the temple.

Pura Lempuyang is located in Desa Tista, Kecamatan Abang, Karangasem โ Bali. Here is the map:
How to Reach the Place
You can start your journey from Denpasar to Karangasem Regency, by passing through the Bypass Ida Bagus Mantra until you meet Goa Lawah Temple in Klungkung Regency, keep straight until you reach Candidasa Beach, go ahead until you find Tirtha Gangga Tourism Object, and keep following the directions on the road until you find Lempuyang Temple. Donโt worry the way to get here is quite easy, just remember to ask to local people if you find yourself lost on the way. Here is the highway route :
And here is the map if you start your journey from Ubud :
The main view of this temple is the Mighty Mount Agung view, so you can take some pictures right there. Since the view is so instagramable donโt forget to take the best pictures with the correct angle, sometimes you will need more effort to get the best one. If you donโt have any friend to help you to take some photos of you, you can ask local people right there to help, just make sure they understand the things that you say.
If you are Hindu, you can pray on the temple, since that was my first time visiting the Great Temple, I was so excited and I felt like I had to Pray, so the god will forgive all of my sins, I am Hindu, but I am not a religion junkie, so I rarely pray on temple except when there are big Hindus ceremonial like Galungan and Kuningan. You know what? God will forgive that, and he will understand, God bless God speed.
Well I am not a religion junkie, but I am proud can be the part of the oldest religion in the world, long life Hinduism
